Im Rahmen einer Pro- und Kontra-Debatte versucht der vorliegende Beitrag die Frage zu beantworten, ob und unter welchen Umständen eine Flexibilisierung der Sektorengrenzen im Sinne einer sektorenübergreifenden integrierten Versorgung sinnvoll sein könnte. Unter einer integrierten Versorgung versteht der Autor eine „alters-, sektoren- und fachübergreifende, diagnose- und problemspezifisch evidenzbasierte Behandlung innerhalb eines Managed Care Netzwerks aus Leistungserbringern verschiedener Leistungssektoren (stationär, teilstationär, ambulant, rehabilitativ) und Fachrichtungen (Kinder- und Jugendpsychiatrie, Erwachsenenpsychiatrie, Psychosomatik)“. Die Beurteilung basiert im Wesentlichen auf zwei Fragen:
1.
Wie ist die heutige und zukünftige Situation bezüglich psychischer Erkrankungen?
 
2.
Ist das Versorgungssystem entsprechend ausgerichtet und wenn nicht welche Anpassungen könnten vorgenommen werden? Im Rahmen dessen wird auch die Frage der Sektorengrenzen diskutiert.
