Zusammenfassung

Der akute Schlaganfall stellt in Deutschland die häufigste Ursache körperlicher Behinderung im Alter dar und gilt mittelfristig als die größte Belastung für die sozialen und medizinischen Versorgungssysteme des Landes. Dieser Beitrag fasst die Entwicklungen der interventionellen Schlaganfalltherapie der vorderen Zirkulation seit den 1990er Jahren zusammen, um nach der kurzen Rezeption der aktuellen Studienlage Ideen für eine effektive regionale Versorgung sowie die klinische Anwendung und Forschung vorzustellen.
