Silicone oil (SiO) is used as an intraocular tamponade agent. While no normal connection exists between the vitreous chamber and the posterior neural elements of the eye, intracranial migration of the oil has been reported as a rare complication [
1]. The interpretation of computed tomography (CT) or magnetic resonance (MR) studies requires a knowledge of the agents used for complicated retinal detachments, such as SiO or perfluorocarbon liquid (PFCL). The mechanism is still under debate; however, it has been suggested that it may involve elevated intraocular pressure, macrophages, or anatomical predispositions of the optic nerve head [
