The technical development of quantitative imaging methods can be framed as an iterative process to enable unbiased and precise (i.e., repeatable and reproducible) measurements of tissue properties. A central component of this process consists of identifying and addressing the relevant confounding factors, i.e., undesired effects that lead to bias and/or poor precision in the quantification. Once the technical performance is adequate, clinical qualification is needed to evaluate the method’s performance for the screening, diagnosis, staging, prognosis, or treatment monitoring in a specific condition and target population [
