The patient is a 6-year-old male with end stage renal disease secondary to a solitary dysplastic kidney. He was born at 35 weeks gestation with a large omphalocele, malrotation, and imperforate anus; a Ladd’s procedure and colostomy creation were performed in infancy. His medical history also includes a tethered cord, large urachal sinus, bifid scrotum, hypospadias, neurogenic bladder, and undescended left testicle. Due to deteriorating renal function, he started hemodialysis (HD) in April 2014. The patient subsequently transitioned to peritoneal dialysis (PD) following placement of a PD catheter in May of 2014 and did well on PD for over 1 year. …
