Head and neck cancer is the sixth most common cancer worldwide [1], accounting for about 5 % of all cancers. According to Japanese cancer statistics, the number of cases of head and neck cancer (oral, pharyngeal, and laryngeal) in 2015 was 24,200. The estimated number of deaths due to head and neck cancer (oral, pharyngeal, and laryngeal) in 2015 was 8400, representing 2.2 % of all deaths due to cancer [2]. …
