An 8-year-old girl presented to a local hospital with complaints of swelling of the eyelids, hands, feet, and abdomen. The patient was diagnosed with nephrotic syndrome (NS) and steroid treatment was initiated. The patient did not respond to steroid treatment (prednisolone 60 mg/m2) of 6 weeks and was referred to our hospital. Patient’s history revealed she had occasional episodes of fever and recurrent episodes of diarrhea. Her growth was delayed and she had appendectomy due to severe abdominal pain and fever. The patient was the third child of consanguineous parents. A sibling had died at birth; a second sibling had suffered from convulsions and died at 12 months of age. …
