Recent scientific advances stimulate thinking on the boundaries between normal and abnormal behaviour and the importance—both clinical and ethical—of the diagnoses we assign to people whose symptoms exceed a given threshold. In essence, psychosis is currently conceptualized as an (extended) continuous phenotype, which encompasses subclinical psychotic-like experiences in the general population [
1]. Therefore a dimensional classification of mental disorders, in the context of a trans-diagnostic approach is substantiated. We cannot help but wonder how this new conceptualization may influence clinical practice, and especially with regard to the stigma attached to mental illness. …
