This is the last of the editorial family edited by Prof. Abdelhamid H. Elgazzar, head and chairman of nuclear medicine at Kuwait University. This subject is one of his favourites, i.e. the pathophysiological premises to nuclear medicine. In this field, the contribution of Elgazzar is original and productive and indeed everyone seeking to develop their professional career in this area needs this pivotal knowledge. The significance of the book is further increased because publications explaining as an exclusive issue and in an easy and didactic way the relevance of pathophysiology in our field are rare. Interestingly, this synopsis is a simplified publication, arriving between the second (2006) and third (2015) edition of the book The Pathophysiologic Basis of Nuclear Medicine by the same author, and is therefore substantially a reduced format of the latter but including all the most recent information. …
