Following the publication of a recent multicenter, prospective study by Bagla and colleagues that reported the utility of adhesive capsulitis embolization (ACE) in patients with refractory adhesive capsulitis pain, there has been renewed interest in the application of ACE to adhesive capsulitis pain [1]. Adhesive capsulitis of the glenohumeral joint, colloquially known as “frozen shoulder,” refers to progressive inflammation and fibrosis, leading to reduced active and passive motion as well as pain [2]. The condition is a common musculoskeletal complaint, affecting approximately 5% of the population [3]. Although magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) findings that suggest adhesive capsulitis includes soft tissue thickening and gadolinium enhancement, it remains a clinical diagnosis [4]. …
