Die Aufmerksamkeitsdefizit-Hyperaktivitätsstörung kommt vermutlich bei Athleten häufiger vor als in der Allgemeinbevölkerung. Impulsivität kann im Leistungssport sogar von Vorteil sein. Die Therapie ist jedoch kompliziert: Stimulanzien steigern die Leistung, sind aber im Wettkampf verboten.
