Zusammenfassung

Die aktuellen Empfehlungen zur Akuttherapie manischer Episoden erfordern für eine Diagnose bestimmte Kernsymptome. Nach dem DSM-5 erhöht die Erweiterung des Manie-Kernkriteriums „gehobener Affekt“ durch die zusätzliche Forderung nach einem verstärkten Antrieb die diagnostische Spezifität. Die Auswahl einer passenden pharmakologischen Therapie sollte mit Rücksicht auf klinische Subtypen erfolgen.
