Abstract
Amniotic fluid embolism (AFE) is a rare but potentially catastrophic complication of pregnancy in pregnancy and immediate postpartum period. Its pathophysiology remains poorly understood, and the mortality rates have historically been high. In this paper, we present a detailed history of two patients diagnosed with AFE and discuss the potential pathophysiological mechanisms involved. We highlight the importance of early recognition, immediate ICU management, and a multidisciplinary approach to improve survival in AFE cases.
