Die Beatmungsmedizin ist ein wesentlicher Bestandteil der essenziellen Therapie auf Intensivstationen weltweit, insbesondere zur Therapie der hypoxämischen respiratorischen Insuffizienz unter Nutzung der zumeist notwendigen invasiven, mechanischen Beatmung. Dabei sind die Herausforderungen neben der optimalen Einstellung des Beatmungsgerätes, um ventilatorinduzierte Schäden zu vermeiden, die Applikation von Sauerstoff, die Vermeidung einer Hyperkapnie sowie die frühzeitige Entwöhnung vom Respirator. …

Frühe Hyperoxie nach Reanimation schlecht für die Prognose?

Kommt es sehr früh nach einer kardiopulmonalen Reanimation zu einem Zustand der Hyperoxie, ist dies bei Patientinnen und Patienten nach einem Herzstillstand mit schlechteren funktionellen Ergebnissen assoziiert. Das zeigt eine Sekundäranalyse der TTM-2-Studie.

Eine Bakteriämie lässt sich mit einer einwöchigen Antibiotikatherapie zumeist gut in den Griff bekommen: Die Sterberate ist nicht höher als unter zweiwöchiger Behandlung, zeigt eine Vergleichsstudie mit hospitalisierten Erkrankten. Allerdings muss die Therapie bei fast jedem Vierten verlängert werden.

Nasenstimulation lindert chronische Migräne

Wird die Naseninnenseite durch Vibrationen stimuliert, kann dies offenbar die Zahl der Migränetage von Menschen mit chronischer Migräne deutlich senken. Darauf deuten die Resultate einer randomisiert-kontrollierten deutsch-finnischen Untersuchung.
