Zusammenfassung

Obwohl die Effizienz von systemischen Antibiotika im Rahmen der Hygienephase unbestritten ist, bleibt deren Einsatz individuell auf den spezifischen Effekt und Nutzen resp. Schaden unter der Prämisse der maximal möglichen Schädigung von Mikroorganismen bei minimaler Beeinträchtigung des Wirtsorganismus individuell zu prüfen. In Anbetracht von sich häufenden Antibiotikaresistenzen bestehen immer noch eine gewisse Unsicherheit bezüglich der spezifischen Indikationen und der Wahl des Zeitpunkts der Antibiotikagabe und der Nützlichkeit von mikrobiellen Tests. In diesem Beitrag zur antiinfektiösen Therapie werden diesbezüglich mögliche relevante Aspekte und Fragen aufgegriffen und die Überlegungen anhand eines Falls diskutiert.
