Free radicals are molecules, which lack an electron in their chemical structure, which they constantly try to replace. The free radicals try to get electrons from the body, which causes “oxidative stress,” which in turn results in damage to the body’s cells and tissues. Antioxidants provide the extra electrons to the free radicals and prevent them from causing damage to the body’s cells and tissues. Since world war II the free radicals biochemistry came into vogue. Free radicals have been implicated in the etiology of several human diseases as well as ageing [
