Carcinoid tumor of appendix is a rare entity in childhood (1/1,000,000 per year) and mostly is detected incidentally during appendectomy with prevalence less than 0.1% of all appendectomies [
1]. With the global increase in obesity, several studies have drawn attention to association of carcinoid tumors with morbid obesity in adults [
2‐
5]. Crea N et al. reported that the young age, diabetes mellitus, female gender, high BMI were significantly correlated with appendiceal carcinoid tumors in obese adults who were candidates for bariatric surgery [
3]. From this point of view, we want to present an obese girl with an appendiceal carcinoid tumor and to our knowledge, there is no report in literature regarding this issue in children. With this letter, we want to point to possible relation between childhood obesity and carcinoid tumor formation similar to those in adults. …
