Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) remains one of the most common malignancies worldwide, with increasing mortality incidence
1. Although several treatment approaches have been introduced into the clinical practices of HCC management nowadays, the prognosis of HCC patients remained poor due to two problems: (1) difficulties in diagnosing early HCC, and (2) lacking an effective indicator for predicting prognosis as well as treatment response in a real-time manner
2. Previous studies revealed that serum annexin A3 (ANXA3) was significantly elevated in HCC patients, and it might exhibit potential in HCC diagnosis
3. The present study was intended to explore whether the measurement of serum ANXA3 and could serve as a useful tool for the diagnosis, outcome prediction, and therapeutic response evaluation in HCC patients
