Upper-tract urothelial cancer (UTUC) is an uncommon tumor with a poor prognosis. However, UTUC is endemic in some regions of Belgium, the Balkans, Taiwan, and China.
1 Recent guidelines and reviews suggest several prognostic factors for UTUC recurrences, but only a few of these factors show that renal function impairment caused by some particular renal diseases before UTUC may be associated with tumor recurrence.
2 Whether renal disease is associated with a poor UTUC prognosis or not remains inconclusive. This study used the national registry and claimed database to explore the association of renal disease and UTUC prognosis.
