Due to the recent advances in clinical imaging techniques and cancer treatments, many postoperative lung cancer patients who have recurrent disease can now survive for many years. However, there have only been few reports regarding the clinicopathological characteristics of long-term survivors of more than 5 years after the surgical resection of lung cancer.

2 Postoperative pathological invasive factors, such as lymph node metastasis and blood vessel invasion, were reported to be risk factors of late recurrence for 5-year survivors after surgery.
