Cytoreductive surgery and heated intraperitoneal chemotherapy (CRS/HIPEC) is the standard of care for patients with pseudomyxoma peritonei (PMP), conferring long-term survival or cure. This experience has acted as a model for other peritoneal metastases, including ovarian, colorectal, and highly selected gastric cancers, although the survival benefit of nonappendiceal primaries varies and remains the subject of further evaluation.
