Peritoneal dissemination from mucinous appendiceal tumors has long been vaguely described as pseudomyxoma peritonei (PMP); however, PMP is not an homogeneous entity. There is a wide variance in outcomes after surgical treatment of PMP,
1 and some clinical reports of PMP have included primary mucinous tumors of the stomach, colon, pancreas, ovary, and urachus. Various attempts at histologic definitions and classification of mucinous appendiceal tumors with peritoneal dissemination have resulted in a confusing array of histologic terminology and acronyms (mucocele, mucinous cystadenoma, mucinous adenocarcinoma, LAMN, MTUMP, DPAM, PMCA, PMCA-I, etc.).

3 which adopted and further classified the 2010 WHO classification of this disease.
