The ESMO guidelines define young breast cancer (YBC) patients as < 40 years.
1 Numerous studies have revealed that breast cancer in young patients is more aggressive (i.e., high tumor grade, common BRCA1/2 mutation, lymph vascular invasion) and is correlated with poorer prognosis.
2,3 In 2020, through univariate and multivariate Cox analysis, Yi and his colleagues developed a nomogram that included 13 predictors of the survival probability for YBC patients.
4 However, we considered that too many predictors are unnecessary for clinical application, because the inclusion of variables that are not much significantly related to the outcome contributed little to the improvement of the model. Therefore, a parsimonious prediction model is needed for the prognostic assessment of YBC patients. …
