Auf dem Weg zur optimierten Therapie der Trigeminusneuralgie

Zusammenfassung

Die Trigeminusneuralgie (TN) ist nach wie vor eine therapeutische Herausforderung. Die bessere Klassifizierung verschiedener Arten von Gesichtsschmerzen, sowie die Identifizierung von prognostischen Faktoren zur besseren Auswahl der verschiedenen Behandlungsoptionen führen zu einer optimierten Therapie und besseren Lebensqualität für den einzelnen Patienten. Neue Therapieansätze sind derzeit in der klinischen Erprobung, allerdings noch weit entfernt von einer generellen klinischen Einsetzbarkeit. Chirurgische Optionen bleiben eine gute Wahl für Patienten, die nicht auf eine medizinische Behandlung ansprechen.
