To avoid chronicity in patients with non-specific, subacute low back pain (LBP), the regulation of psychosocial risk factors has been shown to be an important target in long-term research and therapy experience. Risk factors following the avoidance-endurance model (AEM) comprise dysfunctional modes of pain processing and depressive mood. Existing screening measures, however, are less suitable to assess AEM-related risk factors in an economical manner. For this purpose, a 9-item short screening will be presented and reviewed concerning its prospective validity. …
