Bedeutung des Stillens für diabetische Mütter und ihre Kinder

Zusammenfassung

Stillen ist die ideale Art der Ernährung von Neugeborenen, die viele Vorteile für Mutter und Kind hat. Insbesondere können diabetische Mütter und deren Nachkommen von dieser Form der Säuglingsernährung schon während der Stillzeit und wahrscheinlich von einer Verminderung des Diabetes- und Adipositasrisikos im späteren Leben profitieren. Trotzdem stillen diabetische Mütter aufgrund verschiedener Risikofaktoren und pathophysiologischer Mechanismen deutlich seltener und kürzer, sodass eine Propagierung des Stillens bei ihnen oberste Priorität hat.
