A male neonate, born at 36+5 weeks gestation with a birth weight of 2500 grams, developed multiple subcutaneous calcifications following treatment with intravenous calcium gluconate for symptomatic hypocalcaemia in the context of neonatal hyperbilirubinaemia. The baby presented on the fourth day of life with fever and hyperbilirubinaemia. He subsequently developed symptomatic hypocalcaemia and received multiple doses of intravenous calcium gluconate *[*dosage not stated*]*. One week after treatment, he was noted to have multiple tender, hard nodules at previous cannulation sites. Radiographs initially did not reveal soft tissue calcification, which became apparent one to three weeks after extravasation of calcium gluconate. The neonate was managed conservatively. Paracetamol was administered for pain relief. The subcutaneous lesions resolved completely by 12 weeks. …
