Abstract
There had been fewer than 200 documented cases of malignant struma ovarii in the English language. Surgical resection and iodine-131 could effectively decrease the incidence of metastasis and recurrence. Nevertheless, the optimal extent of gynecologic surgery was still controversial. This paper presented two cases of pulmonary metastases that occurred 8 and 34 years after the initial resection of the ovarian mass. Furthermore, both patients continued to have stable disease following conservative gynecologic surgery. Therefore, conservative gynecologic surgery could be a viable option for premenopausal patients.
