Acute disseminated encephalomyelitis (ADEM) is an acute inflammatory demyelinating encephalopathy with extensive involvement of the white matter. The clinical manifestations include headache, epileptic seizures, ataxia, quadriplegia, mental symptoms, altered consciousness and other multifocal neurological dysfunctions.
