Die Inzidenz kolorektaler Karzinome steigt mit dem Lebensalter der Patienten. Durch eine geeignete Patientenselektion und -vorbereitung kann ein ähnliches onkologisches Langzeitüberleben wie bei jüngeren Patienten erreicht werden. Notfalleingriffe sollten jedoch aufgrund der deutlich höheren Morbidität und Letalität vermieden werden.
