Clear Cell Sarcoma of Sigmoid Colon: a Rare Malignancy with Common Clinical Manifestations

The most common variety of colonic malignancy is adenocarcinoma, which accounts for 95% of all malignant neoplasms. Mesenchymal neoplasm consists of 0.5–3.0% of all colonic tumors, with gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST) being the commonest tumor. CCSLGT is difficult to differentiate from classical clear cell sarcoma of soft tissues, because of similar morphological features and S100 positive staining. Also, CCSLGT lacks immunohistochemical or ultrastructural melanocytic differentiation [1]. We wish to report an extremely uncommon case of CCLGT of left colon, treated surgically after multidisciplinary tumor board discussion. This case report emphasizes the role of clinical evaluation, imaging, histological morphology, immunohistochemistry, and cytogenetic molecular testing in the diagnosis of such a rare clinical entity. …
