Unanticipated subglottic stenosis is one situation of difficult airway. Several literatures describe subglottic stenosis reports in adults discovered following induction of anesthesia. None reported relapsing polychondritis (RP) leading to failed tracheal intubation. This report describes a collapse crisis of tracheomalacia caused by undiagnosed RP during general anesthesia. It reveals RP is one of the causes of subglottic stenosis and the anesthetist needs to take RP into account in order to safely manage the airway. …
