Non-clear cell renal cell carcinoma (non-ccRCC) is a biologically heterogeneous disease that includes a complex mixture of papillary RCC, chromophobe RCC, renal medullary carcinoma, collecting-duct RCC, and the like in the World Health Organization (WHO) classification.
1,2 Metastatic non-clear cell renal cell carcinoma (non-ccmRCC) is the end stage of this disease, with a poor prognosis.
3,4 Metastatic RCC (mRCC) accounts for 30–50% of RCC during long-term follow-up evaluation, including approximately 18–30% of patients with synchronous metastases at first diagnosis.
