Ende 2019 begann die weltweite Ausbreitung eines respiratorischen Virus, die bis dato in einer in den letzten Jahrzehnten nicht gekannten Pandemie mündete. Neben den direkten Folgen einer schweren Infektion der Atemwege hat SARS-CoV-2 auch zu einer Auswirkung auf eine Vielzahl anderer Erkrankungen und deren Versorgungsalltag in deutschen Krankenhäusern geführt. Die Zusammenhänge zwischen COVID-19 und dem Krankheitsbild des Schlaganfalles sollen im folgenden Artikel näher beleuchtet werden. …
