Greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions must decrease by 80–90% by 2050 to limit global temperature increases to under 1.5 °C and mitigate climate change consequences [1]. This requires a decrease of 6% each year, the reduction observed in 2020 during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) crisis. However, this decrease must occur cumulatively year after year.
