Zusammenfassung

Die Behandlung des Diabetes folgt individuellen Zielen. In erster Linie sind dies der Erhalt bzw. die Wiederherstellung der Lebensqualität sowie die Reduktion der Morbidität und Mortalität. Lebensqualität als subjektiver Parameter umfasst dabei Faktoren wie Therapiezufriedenheit, Vermeidung von Medikamentennebenwirkungen oder komplexer Therapieregime. Deren Berücksichtigung und Empowerment der Betroffenen können eine ausreichende Therapieadhärenz bewirken.
Eine Reduktion der Mortalität und Morbidität lässt sich nicht nur durch die Einstellung der Plasmaglukosewerte erzielen. Insbesondere bei makrovaskulären Folgen ist die Einbeziehung von Körpergewicht, Lipidwerten und Blutdruck in die Therapieplanung unerlässlich. Zudem sind der Wunsch des Betroffenen, relevante Begleiterkrankungen bzw. deren Auswirkungen auf die Prognose sowie das Lebensalter einzubeziehen. In Abwägung der genannten Faktoren legt der Behandelnde gemeinsam mit dem Betroffenen individuelle Therapieziele fest.
