Die Rolle von antioxidativen Mikronährstoffen, Vitaminen und Selen in der Onkologie

Zusammenfassung

Die Meinung über Antioxidanzien und Vitamine in der Onkologie ist nicht einheitlich. Trotzdem werden Nahrungsergänzungsmittel als Adjuvans zur Tumortherapie angeboten. Es liegen jedoch keine Daten vor, die der Frage nachgegangen sind, inwieweit die adjuvante Therapie mit Antioxidanzien einen Einfluss auf das Therapieziel hat. Die Interaktionen von Tumortherapie, oxidativem Stress in kranken und gesunden Zellen und der Wirkung von Antioxidanzien sind zu komplex und auch zu differenziert, als dass man eine globale Beurteilung vom Sinn oder Unsinn antioxidativer Mikronährstoffe in der Krebstherapie abgeben könnte. In diesem Beitrag sollen einige Therapieformen in Bezug auf ihre Radikal induzierende Wirkung (oxidativer Stress) und die therapeutische Effektivität dieses Vorgangs unter Berücksichtigung der Antioxidanzien dargestellt werden.
Anders sieht die Situation für die parenterale Gabe des Spurenelements Selen und des Vitamin C aus: Bei beiden liegen Ergebnisse vor, die die klinische Prüfung einer Anwendung bei Tumorpatienten nahelegen.
