Zusammenfassung

In Deutschland sinken die Operationszahlen der Tonsillektomie seit vielen Jahren, bei Kindern hat die Zahl von Adenotonsillektomien innerhalb eines Jahrzehnts um etwa zwei Drittel abgenommen. Dies steht offensichtlich im Zusammenhang mit der signifikant häufigeren Ausführung der Tonsillotomie, die in erster Linie zur Volumenreduktion hyperplastischer Gaumenmandeln ausgeführt wird. Ziel des vorliegenden Beitrags ist die Darstellung der unterschiedlichen Eingriffsarten, ihrer Indikationen und Risiken.
