Die Nutzung von Jod-Isotopen für die Bildgebung und Therapie kann als eine der ältesten theranostischen Anwendungsformen gelten. Hauptindikationen für die Radiojodbildgebung und -therapie sind Schilddrüsenerkrankungen wie das Schilddrüsenkarzinom.
