Hydroxychloroquin hat eindeutig nachgewiesen, dass es Schübe des systemischen Lupus erythematodes (SLE) verhindert [1]. Die konsequente Gabe dieses Antimalariamittels ist darüber hinaus mit einer Vielzahl positiver Effekte assoziiert – und mit einer deutlich höheren Chance für SLE-Patientinnen und Patienten, ein (normal) hohes Alter zu erreichen [2]. Die Retinopathie [3] stellt die einzige wesentliche Gefahr dar. Die beim hoch dosierten Einsatz in der Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19)-Pandemie beobachtete QT-Zeit-Verlängerung ist offenbar kein SLE-Problem [4, 5], und Myopathien sind selten [6]. …
