A 57-year-old female presented with complaints of progressive right thumb swelling and pain. The patient denies a history of trauma or repetitive motions. No personal or family history of rheumatologic disease. She had noticed that, over the past 6 years, a mass overlying the volar aspect of the first interphalangeal joint had increased in size (Figs.
