Zusammenfassung

Depressionen zählen zu den häufigsten psychischen Störungen. Bei Menschen mit Diabetes ist ihre Prävalenz erhöht. Betroffene leiden unter einer reduzierten Lebensqualität und haben oft Schwierigkeiten, das Diabetesselbstmanagement konsequent umzusetzen. Das kann zu suboptimalen Gesundheitsoutcomes führen: Folgekomplikationen, kardiovaskuläre Ereignisse und körperliche sowie auch mentale Funktionseinbußen treten im Mittel häufiger bzw. früher auf. Häufige Depressionsformen sowie Risikofaktoren, Mechanismen und Auswirkungen bei Diabetes werden vorgestellt.
