Zusammenfassung

Über die letzten Jahre zeigte sich innerhalb der deutschen Bevölkerung ein deutlicher Trend hin zum Übergewicht. Durch technologischen Fortschritt nimmt die Zahl wirbelsäulenchirurgischer Eingriffe, insbesondere von Fusionsoperationen zu. Bei adipösen Patienten sollte man sich bei der Indikation und der Op.-Vorbereitung der spezifischen prä-, intra- und postoperativen Herausforderungen bewusst sein und darauf einstellen.
