A small token of thanks goes a long way, says Mat O'Connor

Two years ago I presented my mentor with a ballpoint pen to thank her for the support she gave to me during my clinical placement. Her reaction was surprising. She proceeded to display her gift to anyone who passed by, proudly announcing that her student had just given it to her.
