Zusammenfassung

Sorgfältige Anamnese durch einen epileptologisch versierten Arzt sowie eine komplette internistisch-pädiatrische und neurologisch-neuropädiatrische Untersuchung sind die Basis der Diagnostik. Die Eltern sollten aufgefordert werden, falls möglich, anfallsverdächtige Zustände mittels Videokamera aufzuzeichnen. Elektroenzephalographie, Labordiagnostik und Bildgebung können Zusatzinformationen bringen, die für die Einordnung eines Anfalls oder die Klassifikation einer Epilepsie und deren korrekte Therapie von großem Nutzen sind.
