To the Editor: Human milk fortification is recommended in very low birth weight (VLBW) babies [1]; however the cost of commercial fortifier is very high in our country. Our VLBW babies have poor postnatal growth [2] and fortification improves growth in them, specially in small for gestational age (SGA) babies [3]. The effect of fortification of breast milk on the osmolality, by formula and fortifier has been studied [4] but effect on protein content is not known. …
