Zusammenfassung

Hintergrund

Neurologische Defizite, epileptische Anfälle und insbesondere quantitative und qualitative Bewusstseinsstörungen im Rahmen febriler (auch nichtneurologischer) Krankheitsbilder sind relativ häufig. Das Spektrum reicht von kindlichen Fieberkrämpfen bis hin zur septischen Enzephalopathie. Zu den spezifisch neurologischen Erkrankungen mit dem Leitsymptom Fieber zählen die klassischen entzündlichen Erkrankungen des zentralen Nervensystems (ZNS) wie die virale Enzephalitis, Meningitis oder die Mischform einer Meningoenzephalitis.

Methode

Recherche und Auswertung aktueller Literatur.

Ergebnisse und Schulssfolgerung

Eine virale Enzephalitis ist ein medizinischer Notfall. Die rasche differenzialdiagnostische Einordnung auch in Abgrenzung zu einer bakteriellen Meningoenzephalitis und adäquate Therapieeinleitung in der Notfallmedizin ist prognoseentscheidend.
