Zusammenfassung

Schätzungen zufolge liegt bei etwa jedem fünften auf Epilepsie behandelten Patienten in Wirklichkeit keine Epilepsie vor. In dieser Übersichtsarbeit erläutern wir daher die wichtigsten Fallstricke in der Epilepsiediagnostik. Ein sorgfältiges Anamnesegespräch sowie eine ergänzende Fremdanamnese können in vielen Fällen Fehldiagnosen und daraus erwachsende psychosoziale und therapeutische Konsequenzen verhindern.
