The original version of this article unfortunately contained a mistake. MDRO numbers and patient days were incorrectly assigned to the different geographic regions in Germany. Actually, the total number of MRGN and CRO per 1000 patient days in eastern Germany (MRGN 7.73; CRO 1.37) approximately doubled those in other regions in Germany (West = 3.87; 0.52, South-West = 3.63; 0.60, North = 3.53; 0.62, South-East = 3.44; 0.55, respectively) regions (all p values < 0.0001). The screening frequency in the different geographic regions followed almost the same order with the largest proportion of surveillance screening in the East (4.49 % of patient days from ICUs with an established surveillance screening) compared with the other regions (West = 4.07 %, South-West = 3.69 %, South-East = 1.98 % and North = 1.63 %). Therefore, the number of MDRO in eastern Germany was considerably higher than in other geographic regions, corroborating prior KISS data (REF 23), which is at least partly caused by the higher screening frequency in the East. …
