Abstract

Amelogenesis imperfecta (AI) is a genetic abnormality with an array of enamel dysplasia symptoms. This case report shows a 16-year-old patient with a complaint of severe pain and sensitivity in the lower jaw while chewing which gets moderated after taking medications. He had dark gums and discoloration of teeth. The diagnosis was performed confirming it to be hypocalcified AI. The treatment planned was root canal treatment of inflamed pulp teeth followed by Nd:YAG laser to treat dark gums and veneering on incisors and canine for esthetic appearance. It can be concluded that esthetic appearance has become very important among youngsters, and lasers play a significant role in fulfilling this demand as they are pain-free, have no bleeding, and have swift healing.
